CORDRY-SWEETWATER — Drunken-driving charges have been filed against a Cordry-Sweetwater man who crashed an SUV on Sprunica Road in October.

Brandon R. Callahan, 23, of Grey Wolf Drive, was charged Feb. 1 with operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangering a person and two other alcohol-related misdemeanors.

He was the driver of an Oldsmobile Bravada that hit a tree on Sprunica Road near Upper Salt Creek on Oct. 13. He told officers that he thought he was on State Road 46.

He admitted to officers that he had four beers “several hours ago,” the October report said. A chemical test showed his blood-alcohol level to be 0.24, which is three times the legal limit, according to a probable-cause affidavit filed Feb. 1.

Deputy Austin Schonfeld also reported finding a cellphone on the ground that had a partial text typed on it, the report said.

Callahan was taken to a hospital by ambulance due to pain in his entire body.
