VAN BUREN TWP. — A Brown County teen was treated for a head abrasion after he crashed while driving too fast on a slick road Monday evening.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy William Pool reported that the crash occurred in the 9000 block of Garrity Road at about 7:45 p.m. Feb. 5. When deputies arrived, the driver, Seth M. Heiny, 18, was being treated by Southern Brown volunteer firefighters.

Pool and Deputy Josh Stargell determined that Heiny was driving too fast for road conditions, the police report said. His vehicle ran off the road and sideswiped a cluster of small trees, the report said.

Heiny declined a ride to the hospital in an ambulance, but his parents transported him for a check-out.

The truck he was driving was towed from the scene. Heiny was not wearing a seat belt, but the airbag did deploy, the report said.
