METAIRIE, La. — A sheriff says a man who was found fatally wounded and lying in the middle of a Louisiana street was likely dumped after being shot somewhere else.

Jefferson Parish Interim Sheriff Joseph Lopinto tells NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune detectives have not yet identified the 18- to 25-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was found between South Interstate 10 Service Road and West Metairie Avenue.

The newspaper reports investigators don’t have a suspect in the killing. Detectives still are canvasing the area to speak to witnesses and look for surveillance cameras.
