Letter: Thanks due to Brown County Christmas Committee

To the editor:

Many thanks go out to the volunteers of the Brown County Christmas Committee who worked many countless hours throughout the year creating and assembling the beautiful Christmas decorations that adorned the courthouse lawn, the Village Green, the streets of Nashville and the community Christmas tree at the Brown County History Center. I cannot remember a holiday season where I was more proud of our community spirit. It was a joy to wander around town and see the happy faces of young and young at heart enjoying this year’s volunteer creations.

The little group of Brown County Christmas Committee volunteers consists of Marilyn Rudd, Andy Rudd, Dorothy Babcock, Linda and Ken Wendling, Eileen Wininger, Syd Nickels, Peggy Thompson, Dan Waldhier, and Hawkin Wendling for volunteering to climb the ladder and reach those difficult areas. There were others who volunteered as schedules allowed.

The committee would like to thank the Brown County Community Foundation for their generosity in allowing us the space to meet throughout the year to create and store our decorations; the Brown County History Center for hosting the wonderful Christmas tree lighting ceremony and taking care of Santa and his elves; entertainers Chuck Wills and Cari Ray for the Christmas music; Ric Fox and your maintenance team for your help installing the six Christmas trees; Designscape for their generous donation of the six Christmas trees for the courthouse lawn; the Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau for promotion and handmade candy canes; the Brown County Chamber of Commerce for organizing such a wonderful Christmas Light Parade; and the Town of Nashville for placing the lighted wreaths on the streetlights.

As you can tell by this list of volunteers, it really does take a village to come together to make the season brighter. I did not have much time to donate, but it was my honor and joy to be involved with this dedicated group of volunteers this past year.

We are looking forward to Christmas in Brown County 2018. If you are interested in helping with this year’s Christmas in Brown County Committee, please contact my office at 812-988-7064 (Town Hall).
