Jeanette (Combs) Bentley, age 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at her home in Morgantown.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Weeping Willow Cemetery, Bean Blossom.
Jeanette was born July 24, 1945, in Red Fox, Kentucky, to the late Lawrence and Ellimae Combs. She married W.M. Bentley on Dec. 23, 1959, in Hindman, Kentucky; he survives after 58 loving years of marriage.
Jeanette was a 35-plus-year member of The Pentecostals of Nashville church. She was a loving homemaker to her husband and five children. She enjoyed playing solitaire and watching westerns and soap operas, as well as spending time with her family.
Jeanette will be missed by her husband, W.M. Bentley; children, Wendell (Melody) Bentley of Martinsville, Mitchell (Terri Brown) Bentley of Trafalgar, Lester Bentley of Morgantown, Bessie (Richard) Sumpter of Nashville and Teresa Bentley of Morgantown; siblings, Harden Combs of Red Fox, Kentucky, Edward Combs of Arlington, Texas, Layuna Krause of Ellettsville and Marie Breeding of Pippa Passas, Kentucky; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Combs; mother, Ellimae Slone; stepfather, Lester Sloan; siblings, J.C. Combs, Burley Combs, Lilly Combs, Ada Bailey, Kelly Combs, and an infant sister, Mary; daughter-in-law, Robin Bentley; grandson, Scott Derringer; and great-grandchildren, Shawn Summers and Carson Cowan.
