Staff reports

A Spencer man who was initially stopped for traffic violations also faces a drunken driving charge in Brown County.

Dalton L. Kennedy, 23, was stopped at 7 p.m. Dec. 22 on State Road 46 East, according to a probable cause affidavit by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Williams. Williams stopped him for speeding, improper passing, failing to use a turn signal and following too close.

While speaking with the driver, Williams reported smelling alcohol on him and that his speech was slurred and his eyes were glossy. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.16, twice the legal limit.

Kennedy was charged Jan. 5 with three misdemeanors for driving while intoxicated and a Class C speeding infraction.
