Tyler David Colglazier, 31, of Nashville, passed away suddenly in the early hours of Sunday morning, Jan. 14, 2018.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday Jan. 19 with the service to immediately follow, all at Westside Community Church, 124 Tipton Lakes Blvd. in Columbus, Indiana.
Born April 27, 1986, Tyler is survived by his loving parents, David “Rick” Colglazier and Cynthia Colglazier. He is also survived by his sister, Megan Colglazier; niece, Carly Colglazier; stepgrandfather, Edward Wolfley; and close companion, Kersten Webb.
Tyler was preceded in death by grandparents, Margaret Colglazier, Ivan Colglazier, Irwin and Shirley Sedberry Wolfley.
Tyler was an individual who cherished the bonds he had with his good friends and family. He did not shy away from hard work, especially if it was outdoors. He started his own landscaping venture when he was in high school. He worked in grounds-keeping and maintenance at Brown County State Park and helped in developing a nationally-acclaimed mountain biking trail at the park. Most recently, he was a waiter who served customers at Out of the Ordinary Restaurant. Tyler was a graduate of Columbus North High School and Ivy Tech. As a rough-and-tumble defenseman, Tyler thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Columbus Iceman hockey program. While in high school, much like his life, Tyler played the game with zeal and reckless abandon and incurred more than his fair share of minutes in the penalty box. He was a member of the Army Reserves from 2004 to 2012.
Tyler was amazingly resilient; he had a huge heart and was always ready to help if anyone needed it.
The last few years of his life, Tyler began to have a closer, more meaningful walk with God, especially during the time he spent at Wheeler Mission/Camp Hunt.
Tyler lived life like a “ball of fire” but throughout his time with us, he was a kind, loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, companion and friend who will be deeply missed.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Wheeler Mission/Camp Hunt, 7790 Fish Road, Bloomington, IN 47408-8600; or to Westside Community Church, 124 Tipton Lakes Blvd., Columbus, IN 47201.
