Jenny Lee (Logsdon) Wheatley, age 76, passed away on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. She was a life-long resident of Brown County.
Jenny was born in Trevlac on March 24, 1941 to her parents, the late Ivy and Dorothy (Sweatwood) Logsdon. She attended Helmsburg School in Brown County. Jenny married Walter S. “Sherdie” Wheatley on July 24, 1971 in Franklin. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2011 after 40 years of marriage.
Jenny retired in 1992 from the physical therapy department of Franklin United Methodist Community. Prior to that, she worked at Janie’s Nursing Home in Franklin. She was a member of Bear Creek Church in Brown County.
Jenny enjoyed living in the Willow Manor Community in Nashville. She was a member of the “Scooter Gang” at Willow Manor and enjoyed visiting McDonald’s on her scooter. Jenny was a person of strong faith who enjoyed reading inspirational books as well as Harlequin romance novels. She also enjoyed shopping, playing cards and watching Dancing with the Stars. Jenny was a fan of I.U. men’s basketball and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Lee (Sherry) Martin of Brown County, Jeana K. (Terry) Burton of Franklin, James M. (Melody) Martin of Salisbury, North Carolina, and Melissa G. Sledge of Franklin; siblings, Ivy “Jack” (Louise) Logsdon of Greenwood and Dottie Sipes of Brown County; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Jenny was preceded in death by siblings, Elsie Robinson, Tudie Smith, Jean Chitwood, Marilyn Jordan, Ed Logsdon and Donnie Abbott.
A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
