A Trafalgar man was arrested on charges of fleeing police and possessing marijuana after a deputy reported he cut him off in traffic.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht reported that Chad E. Maddox, 27, was the driver of a vehicle that cut him off Nov. 20. He said Maddox turned in front of him from State Road 46 East into the Salt Creek Inn parking lot.

Maddox parked the vehicle and left it, then returned to the car, and Eggebrecht ordered him to stop, the affidavit states. The officer identified himself as “sheriff’s office,” but Maddox went back into his hotel room, the report said.

Eggebrecht gained entry into the hotel room and detained Maddox. He reported finding less than 30 grams of marijuana in his possession.

Maddox was charged Nov. 27 with resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
