Letter: One place where county really needs logging

0

To the editor:

While the state of Indiana is busy logging Yellowwood, why not be of service to the community and log along both sides of State Road 135 North at the Bean Blossom Overlook?

The view at the main overlook is nearly gone, and a couple of other view points nearby were closed in the 1960s. They are now heavily wooded and trashed in some spots. I recall these views when they were spectacular picnic spots along 135 North and a beautiful welcome to Brown County.

Jim Tichenor, Bean Blossom Ridge

Editor’s note: Brown County government owns about 151.5 acres at the overlooks on both sides of State Road 135 North, according to the GIS map on the Brown County government webpage. They are under the umbrella of Brown County Parks and Recreation.
