PEOGA — An Indianapolis man has been charged with intimidation in Brown County after police say he entered a man’s home without permission, showed him his gun and threatened to kill him.

On Nov. 4, officers responded to a home in the 4100 block of Peoga Road after a man called dispatch to report people on his property with weapons threatening to kill him.

The victim told police that he had lived at the home for several years and a relative owned the property. He said that relatives of that relative had come down for the weekend to hunt and stay in a small cabin and camper on the property, according to a probable cause affidavit by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Jackson.

While watching TV with his 10-year-old child, the victim said Randall McClure, 34, “barged” into his home without knocking and said the two needed to talk outside about family issues.

The victim said after he denied talking about one of McClure’s relatives, McClure told him he was there to kill him. When the victim asked McClure to leave, McClure told the victim he was going to die, according to the affidavit.

The victim went inside to call 911. While on the phone with dispatch, the victim said that McClure pulled up his shirt and showed a gun that he was wearing to the victim and his child. McClure said that he was going to kill the victim then, the police report said.

The victim told his child to go upstairs. More words were exchanged between McClure and the victim before McClure went back to his campsite.

Dispatchers told police they could hear yelling in the background of the 911 call, but not the threat, according to the affidavit.

Officers went over to speak with McClure and found him walking out of a small cabin. Jackson wrote that he could tell McClure had been drinking because he was slurring his words and smelled of alcohol.

Jackson searched McClure and found a pistol holster on his belt, but McClure said the gun was “gone,” according to the affidavit.

Officers placed McClure under arrest for intimidation and residential entry. Jackson reported finding a knife on McClure after searching him.

On Nov. 13, McClure was charged with intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor.
