NEW YORK — Police have shot and wounded a knife-wielding man at the scene of a stabbing of a woman in Queens.
It happened at about noon Tuesday on Shore Front Parkway near Beach 102nd Street in Rockaway Park.
Police say officers arriving on the scene saw a female in the rear of the building with a stab wound to her torso. Officers were directed to the first floor hallway where they encountered a man armed with a knife.
Police say the suspect refused to drop the knife and a stun gun was used three times to no effect.
Police say one of the officers discharged his weapon, striking the suspect in the leg.
Both the suspect and wounded female were hospitalized in stable condition.
The investigation is continuing.
