VAN BUREN TWP. — A Seymour man was injured in a crash on Becks Grove Road near the Brown-Bartholomew county line Oct. 9 after his vehicle was hit head-on.

According to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht, Michael K. Conrad, 31, of Columbus, told police he was eastbound when he crested a hill near Mt. Healthy Road and saw a large truck traveling westbound in the middle of the road.

Conrad told police he served to try to miss the truck, which caused him to partially run off the road. He overcorrected and when he was back on the road, he crashed his Jeep Liberty head-on into an F-450 truck driven by Dillon P. Vance, 25, of Seymour.

When Eggebrecht arrived, EMS was treating Vance for a head injury. He was taken to the hospital before Eggebrecht was able to speak with him.

Conrad was not injured.

The driver of the truck which Conrad said he swerved to miss told police that Vance was following him to a work site when he crested the hill about the same time as Conrad. The driver told Eggebrecht that Conrad was speeding and lost control as they passed, the report said. The driver said he was on his side of the road.

The F-450 and the Jeep were towed from the scene. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
