BRIGHT SPOT: Two county employees win state awards

Two county employees have been chosen as the best in the state in their fields.

The Brown County Commissioners recognized Jennifer Heller Rugenstein and Mike Magner at their Oct. 4 meeting.

Heller Rugenstein was named the Indiana environmental health specialist of the year.

Magner was named outstanding county highway superintendent of the year by the Association of Indiana Counties Inc.

“They do a great job for us, and the fact that their associations recognize them above and beyond what we recognize them, I think that’s something that we need to be excited about,” commissioner Diana Biddle said.

“It might be a small county, but we have some excellent people who do a great job,” commissioner Jerry Pittman said.
