GORHAM, Maine — A prominent Maine businessman has joined the Republican Party as he considers a second bid for governor.
Shawn Moody announced Tuesday he had joined the Republican Party. The 57-year-old Gorham business owner previously ran as an independent for Maine governor in 2010.
Moody, who owns a chain of auto body shops in Maine, says he will decide whether he’s running before Thanksgiving.
Three Republican candidates are currently in the race. They include former Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew, Maine House Minority Leader Ken Fredette and Maine Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason. Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins says she will decide this week if she’s running.
