MESA, Ariz. — A man has been arrested in connection with the beating and stabbing death of a woman at a Mesa motel.

Mesa police say 50-year-old Allan Fredrick Lindstrom was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder.

It was unclear Wednesday if Lindstrom has a lawyer yet.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that the death of 51-year-old Sharon Vaulding was a homicide.

According to police, Lindstrom called 911 on Oct. 2 from the Colonade Motel and said he found Vaulding not breathing.

Police say she already was dead by the time officers arrived on scene.

Detectives linked physical and DNA evidence to Lindstrom, leading to his arrest Tuesday evening.
