GNAW BONE — No serious injuries were reported after a four-vehicle crash on State Road 46 East Saturday afternoon.

At around 3 p.m., police, EMS and firefighters responded to 46 East near Hoover Road. A witness told police she was westbound on 46 East behind a vehicle driven by Gary R. Jenkins, 66, of Indianapolis, when someone began to turn south into Kelp’s Greenhouse and Pumpkin Patch, an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell states.

The vehicles in front of the witness crashed into each other. Jenkins’ vehicle braked and turned sharply to the north, striking a vehicle driven by Cathy L. Spencer, 46, of Nashville, the report states.

Jenkins’ vehicle then crashed into the guardrail on the north side of 46 East.

Spencer’s vehicle was struck in the rear by Jenkins, which caused her to strike a vehicle driven by Lesha R. Colglazier, 53, of Indianapolis, in the rear.

In an email to the Democrat, Spencer said that she did not hit another vehicle after she was rear ended. She sent a photo of her 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer showing no damage to the front of the vehicle.

Colglazier’s vehicle then struck a fourth vehicle, driven by Erin M. Crowther, 22, of Bargersville.

Jenkins was checked out by EMS and refused transport for chest pain from airbag deployment, the report states.

A passenger in Colglazier’s vehicle was also checked out by EMS and refused transport for head pain.

Jenkins’ and Colglazier’s vehicles were towed. All of the drivers were wearing seat belts.
