CAMP ROBERTS — A Brown County man was injured after he lost control of the mo-ped he was driving on State Road 135 South Sept. 15.

At around 9:25 a.m., Brown County Sheriff’s deputies Andrew Eggebrecht and Austin Schonfeld responded to the 1000 block of 135 South for a report of a one-vehicle crash. Eggebrecht reported finding the driver, Robert L. Thompson, 57, of 135 South, lying on the rocks off the east side of the road. Thompson was conscious, but not completely alert, Eggebrecht said.

EMS requested a medical helicopter to transport Thompson, but the helicopter was unavailable due to weather conditions, the report states.

Thompson told police he was northbound on 135 South when he hit a wet spot on the road in a corner. He said he was not sure how long he had been lying on the side of the road.

Bystanders told police they did not see Thompson crash, but that they found him afterwards.

Thompson was not wearing a helmet, according to the accident report. He was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital by ambulance for complaints of pain over his entire body.

His mo-ped was towed from the scene; it had “extensive damage,” the report said.
