JACKSON TWP. — A Carmel man was flown to a hospital after he crashed his motorcycle in Brown County Aug. 12.

Peter M. Hermina, 33, told police he was driving on State Road 45 near Branstetter Road when he slid on a strip of tar sealant and lost control of his bike, an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell states.

When police and EMS arrived at around 3:30 p.m., they found Hermina in a ditch on the west side of State Road 45, about 10 feet from from his motorcycle, the report states.

A witness told police he did not see the crash, but he saw something colorful in his mirror in the ditch and realized it was Hermina’s helmet.

Hermina told police he couldn’t remember anything about the crash. The next day, he told police that he had a fractured clavicle and tibia that would require surgery, the police report said.

Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMS also assisted at the scene.
