LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Police in Little Rock say a 48-year-old man has died following an early-morning shooting.

Investigators say the victim, Vincent James of Little Rock, was discovered at about 2:50 a.m. Sunday with gunshot wounds in each of his legs. Vincent told authorities that two men tried to rob him as he was entering his home and that one of the men had shot him.

James was transported to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences with injuries that police say in a news release did not appear to be life threatening. But James was pronounced dead from his injuries at 9 a.m.

Witnesses told detectives that they heard gunshots and then saw James in an altercation with one of the suspects, who then fled.

Police say the case remains under investigation.
