JAMESTOWN, N.D. — Authorities have ruled the fatal shootings of a Jamestown man and woman a murder-suicide.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says 33-year-old Casey Jensen and 26-year-old Cherish Petersen were in a relationship. Both lived in the home where their bodies were found. A baby was found unharmed in the home.

The North Dakota Forensic Examiner’s Officer determined Petersen was shot in the back of her head and that Jensen died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.

A rifle, two shell casings and other items were collected as evidence. Police believe the shootings happened late Friday or early Saturday.

Officers were called to the home Sunday evening. The 3-month-old infant was treated for dehydration and turned over to family members.
