SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. — A fox has evaded capture by animal control officers on a New Jersey shore beach.

The animal was spotted over the weekend in Sea Isle City between 39th and 40th streets.

But it ran into the sand dunes as an animal control officer approached with a net.

Wildlife Aid says the fox has mange. An initial report from police said the animal was a coyote.

This story has been corrected to show animal is a fox, not a coyote, based on updated information.
