CHICAGO — Chicago police say they captured a motorist who shot at officers and led them on a chase through the city.

Police say they spotted the man driving erratically on Sunday night and he fired at officers. They pursued him for about 7 miles (11 kilometers) before he crashed. The man was taken to a hospital with what were described as injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

Police say an officer was treated and released from a hospital after being injured. Police didn’t immediately say how the officer was hurt.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the chase began in the northwestern neighborhood of Montclare and ended near DePaul University in Lincoln Park. Charges are pending against the driver.
