GREENSBORO, N.C. — Federal marshals have arrested a North Carolina college student in connection with a shooting death in April.
A news release from the Greensboro Police Department said 20-year-old Samad Rahim Dawson, a sophomore at North Carolina A&T State University, was arrested Friday at his home in Philadelphia and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Kimeko Dejuan James.
Campus police answering a call found James with life-threatening injuries in a vehicle near a dormitory at A&T about 11:30 p.m. on April 20. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police said they don’t have a motive in the killing, one of three fatal shootings in Greensboro that day. Authorities said the shootings didn’t appear to be related.
The news release said Dawson’s extradition to North Carolina is pending.
