Traffic stop results in drug, syringe possession arrests

A traffic stop July 22 resulted in the arrest of a man and woman on narcotic drug and syringe possession charges.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner stopped a vehicle driven by Rachael A. Roberts, 22, of Columbus. Her passenger was Bryan Tucker, 27, of Columbus.

Police searched the vehicle after a K9 alerted police to the presence of narcotics. A search yielded less than one gram of heroin, a syringe, less than 30 grams of marijuana and two spoons with an off-white powdery residue on them, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Jail staff reported finding two syringes in Roberts’ bra.

She was charged with possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, and unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.

Tucker was charged with possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony; unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
