CHARLESTON, S.C. — A police chief in South Carolina is retiring after nearly 11 years in office.
Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen is leaving the post Monday, concluding a law enforcement career of 35 years.
Mullen had announced his retirement June 13 in a letter to Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg.
Tecklenburg has chose Deputy Chief Jerome Taylor to serve as interim police chief.
A nationwide search is underway to find a permeant police chief.
