SALISBURY, Md. — In a story July 30 about the death of an inmate, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the inmate exhibited signs of distress during a screening. However, an official said the inmate “exhibited no sign of distress.”
A corrected version of the story is below:
Inmate dies after being found unresponsive in jail cell
An inmate has died after being found unresponsive in a Maryland jail cell
SALISBURY, Md. — An inmate has died after being found unresponsive in a Maryland jail cell.
The Daily Times reports that Wicomico County Administrator Wayne Strausburg said there was no suspected foul play. He said the inmate was in a cell by himself at the Wicomico County Detention Center when he was found Saturday.
Strausburg said the inmate had undergone a routine screening when he arrived at the jail and “exhibited no sign of distress.”
The inmate’s name was not immediately made public.
