A Martinsville man faces a felony in Brown County after he failed to report to the Brown County jail to serve his sentence for violating probation.

According to a probable cause affidavit by Steve Brahaum, the investigator with the Brown County Prosecutor’s Office, James M. Purdue was ordered to serve 458 days in jail after admitting to violating probation May 2.

Purdue was to report to the jail on May 16 at 4 p.m. but between May 2 and June 14, he did not report to the jail, the affidavit states.

He was charged July 17 with failure to return to lawful detention, a Level 6 felony.
