WebJohnWilliamsJohn Allen Williams, 78, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at his home in northern Brown County.

He was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Warren Hargus and Loretta (Holley) Williams. John attended Helmsburg High School in Brown County and soon after started his 45-year career as a Tile Setter and Marble Mason. He retired in 2001 from Santarossa Mosaic Tile in Indianapolis. He was a Gold Member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Union Local 4 in Indianapolis.

John was a member of Trafalgar United Methodist Church and a former member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Peoga. He enjoyed the outdoors by mushroom hunting and working in his yard. John was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed working on automobiles and collecting tractors. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Jo Ann (Curry) Williams, whom he married Jan. 10, 1958, in Greenwood. He is also survived by children, Tammie J. (Dan) Freeman of Franklin, Malinda S. Lasley of Trafalgar, Sonia L. (Jeff) Ross of Nineveh and Lisa A. (Tony) Bell of Richwoods, Missouri; siblings, Pauline Dalton of Elkhart, Leta Williams of Franklin and David (Money) Williams of Illinois; grandchildren, Kyle Oliver, Greg Lasley, Lacey Prosser, Heather Williams, Tyler Ross and Samantha Woods; great-grandchildren, Barrett, Bristal, Kennedi, Oliver, Cooper and Calli.

John was preceded in death by a son, Rocky Allen Williams; son-in-law, Barry K. Lasley; grandson, Austin Carr; siblings, Mary June Ramey, Jimmy Williams, Lola Faye Young and Earl Chester Williams.

The Rev. Ben Greenbaum will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Trafalgar United Methodist Church, 375 Pleasant St.

Friends were to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25 at Meredith–Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown.

Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.
