SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist has been killed and a woman injured in a crash in Salt Lake City that shut down a busy intersection during the morning commute.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the 32-year-old man who was killed ran a red and was hit by an SUV just before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The accident south of downtown shut down all four directions of the intersection at 1700 South and 900 West about a half-mile west of Interstate 15.

The female passenger on the cycle is reported in stable condition at a local hospital.

The woman driving the SUV was not injured.

No names have been released. The crash remains under investigation.
