GNAW BONE — Police stopped a driver in a damaged vehicle and made an arrest for marijuana possession.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht was on State Road 46 East near Hoover Road when he saw a silver car traveling the opposite direction that had one functioning headlight and extensive front-end damage. He pulled over the driver, Skyler D. Bryant, 19, of North Vernon, and “could detect the strong odor of marijuana” as he approached, his report said.

Bryant told the officer that he had smoked earlier and there wasn’t anything left, the report said. Eggebrecht reported finding a small, burnt marijuana cigarette in a compartment to the right of the steering wheel.

Bryant told officers that he was on probation for possession in Decatur County, the report said. Officers also discovered that his license was suspended.

The incident happened on Feb. 19 and Bryant was issued a summons to appear in court in May. He was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving while suspended, an infraction.
