FRUITDALE — Two motorcyclists were injured June 3 when their bike collided with a car on State Road 135 North.

Lori A. Swafford, 55, of Dog Trot Lane, told police that she and the motorcycle were going the same direction on the highway near Hurdle Road. The motorcycle didn’t have a turn signal on and it swerved to the left, so she attempted to pass on the right; then, the motorcycle hit her, she said in the police report.

The motorcycle driver, Bradley Brummet, 56, of Greenwood, told police that he had signaled a right turn, then moved toward the center line so he could make a more straight-on turn into a gravel driveway. He said he never saw Swafford pass him on the right.

The report said that Brummet was taken to a hospital for a bruise on his head; he was not wearing a helmet. His passenger, Judy, Brummet, 57, of Greenwood, told The Democrat that Bradley was taken to Methodist Hospital to repair significant injuries to his head, and she was taken to a hospital by ambulance for leg injuries and to get stitches in her hand.
