David Arnold Banta, 80, of Indianapolis, died Saturday, June 10, 2017.
He was born May 10, 1937, in Indianapolis, to the late Ralph and Lois Banta.
David served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from John Herron School of Art; his career was in visual arts. He retired as an art director from Wm H. Block Company stores. After retiring, David pursued watercolor painting and was a member of the Brown County Art Guild, Hoosier Salon, Watercolor Society of Indiana and Southside Art League. He volunteered as a docent at the Eiteljorg Museum. David was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
David is survived by sisters Janet Munro of the Center Grove area and Linda Banta of Southport; and nieces and nephews, Suzanna Annakin, Jason Munro, Christopher Munro, Melissa Sowder and Jennifer Kunkel.
A celebration of David’s life will be at 6 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation from 5 p.m. until the service, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227.
