NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OF THE

  BROWN COUNTY AREA PLAN COMMISSION

Please take notice that the Brown County Area Plan Commission has scheduled a Public Hearing to be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 6:00 PM in the Meeting Room, Brown County Government Building, 201 Locust Lane, Nashville, Indiana 47448.

The purpose of the hearing shall be to accept public comment on proposed amendments (“Amendments”) to the sign regulations set forth in Section 4.15 of the Brown County Zoning Ordinance.  In part, the Amendments are being proposed in response to recent United States Supreme Court decisions.  If adopted, the Amendments would add or amend:  the basic sign prohibitions; the purposes of the sign regulations; a noncommercial message substitution provision; severability provisions; definitions of the terms: sign, animated sign, lot, electronic sign, vehicle sign, and County road; the sign area, height, and setback standards; sign height and area computation; the performance standards; the permit procedures, including established response and issuance time periods; the signs in the public right-of-way provisions; and, sign regulation exemptions.

Copies of the Amendments are available for inspection in the Brown County Area Planning Office, Brown County Government Building, 201 Locust Lane, Nashville, Indiana 47448.  Written comments to the Amendments, which are filed with the Secretary of the Area Plan Commission before the hearing, will be considered.  Oral comments concerning the proposed amendments will be heard.  The hearing may be continued from time to time.  Following the hearing, the Brown County Plan Commission may take final action on the Amendments and on any proposed changes to the Amendments. The hearing is open to the public.
