Police find glass pipe on Indianapolis man

An Indianapolis man with a suspended license was stopped in Nashville for driving at an “unusually slow rate of speed,” and police later found a clear glass pipe on him, court paperwork said.

Stephen T. Henderson, 28, was stopped at McDonald’s by Nashville Police Officer Richard King, a probable cause affidavit said.

King stopped the vehicle at McDonald’s after seeing Henderson almost hit another vehicle that was driving north to the stoplight, his report said.

Dispatch confirmed that Henderson had a suspended license. He admitted to King that he had a small amount of marijuana in his cup holder, the affidavit states. Since there was such a minimal amount, King poured it on the concrete and crushed it with his foot, the report said.

Henderson was arrested. While he was being booked into jail, staff and King discovered a small glass pipe in Henderson’s pocket, the report said. He told King he forgot about the pipe and that he typically smokes methamphetamine in the morning before he leaves his house, the affidavit said.

He was charged May 18 with driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
