The Writers Readers and Poets Society meets from 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Thursdays each month to read and discuss the literary compositions of those present. Meetings are at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. All are welcome.
League of Women Voters
The League of Women Voters of Brown County will have its annual meeting Thursday, May 18, in a lower-level meeting room at the Seasons Lodge, 560 State Road 46 East.
Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m.; dinner, $15 per person, is at 6 p.m.
Prior to the business meeting, the winner of the Dorothy Stewart Scholarship award, Madison Fields, will be introduced.
Guest speakers will address the group: Clint Studebaker about local watersheds and JoAnne Himebaugh about air sheds.
New officers will be elected and the year’s program will be finalized during the business meeting.

Nashville Literary Club
The Nashville Literary Club will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18 at Willow Manor. Pam Flowers will present a discussion of “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman. Co-hostesses are Donna Ormiston and Caren Senesac.
The Brown County Widowed Group will sponsor euchre parties at 1 p.m. Tuesdays, May 23 and June 13 at Sycamore Valley Community Center at the fairgrounds.
Columbus Star Quilters Guild regular monthly meeting will be Wednesday, June 7, at St. John’s Masonic Lodge No. 20, 4131 Rocky Ford Road. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m.
The June program will include Janet Gagneur, who will demonstrate thread painting; and a “show-and-tell” of member projects and guest projects.
There is no charge for the meeting; all are welcome.
UNIONVILLE — The Village Woodturners, a group that focuses on projects made by wood lathe, meets at 7 p.m. second Wednesdays every other month. The next meeting will be June 14. For directions, contact Don Housman at 812-720-1174 or email@example.com.
