Nashville, Indiana native, Murnal “Butch” Ellis Shepherd, 92, of Columbus, died at 1:13 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at his residence.

Survivors include his sons, Dennis W. Shepherd of Carmel, Jerry L. (Jayne) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Timothy A. (Tammy) Shepherd of Commisky; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen (Marsh) Shepherd; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Shepherd.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home, 4205 W. Jonathan Moore Pike in Columbus, with Pastor Gordon Tilley officiating.

Family and friends can call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 1, and from 9 a.m. prior to the service May 2 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Duncan Cemetery, Brown County, with military honors conducted by the Brown County Honor Guard.
