Brown County native, Emma “Jean” (Shipley) Carter, 80, of Bloomington, died Sunday evening, April 23, at Garden Villa in Bloomington.

Jean is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Tammi Shipley of Bloomington; her son, Mike Shipley of Bloomington; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Don Shipley and Dale Shipley.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Carter.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, in Duncan Cemetery, Brown County, followed by a gathering of family and friends at Duncan Community Church & Christian Center, 4100 Yellowwood Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
