The Brown County girls track and field team could not duplicate its Talon Relays championship of last year, but coach Rob Abraham said both the boys and girls teams had solid performances in this year’s event on Saturday.

The Eagle girls finished third with 49.5 points. Isabel Rygiel and Maddy Fields won the pole vault, jumping a combined 17 feet, 6 inches.

“With the small team of girls we ended up having, I thought we competed well,” Abraham said. “Coming in (third) just shows you the quality of the kids we have.”

The Brown County boys scored 62.5 points for a sixth-place finish. Isaiah Keefauver and Dawson Williams finished with a combined jump of 11-6.

Job Lawson, Keefauver, Jackson McPheeters and Wyatt Wyman won the distance medley relay in 10 minutes, 48.50 seconds and finished second in the 4×400-meter relay in 3:30.86.

“The boys team, I thought we had some good performances,” Abraham said. “I think they competed very well on a not-so-friendly day.”

Several girls individuals and relay teams finished second. Kathleen McCann took second in the 100 (12.86) and Vivien Crimmins was second in the 100 hurdles (16.86), and Elly Wertz and Chloe Lee finished second in the long jump (27-8.5).

Also taking second for the Eagles were Wertz, Maddy Westcott, Crimmins and McCann in the 4×100 relay (51.66); Wertz, McCann, Fields and Rygiel in the 4×400 relay (4:18.91) and Wertz, Crimmins, McCann and Fields in the sprint medley relay in 1:59.95.
