State park road to be repaved next month

Add Brown County State Park to the list of paving work being done around the county this year.

The Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor will begin repairing and repaving pavement in the park on or after Tuesday, April 4, INDOT said in a press release.

The $425,000 resurfacing project will start 4.3 miles from the west gate entrance to Horseman’s Camp Road to the Abe Martin Lodge entrance.

No roads will be closed. All work will be completed using flaggers to direct traffic around crews and equipment.

The state’s contract calls for all paving to be completed before the end of May.

Road work will be done in every township in Brown County sometime this year among state, county and town-led projects. Not all contracts have been awarded so dates when work will begin have not been finalized.

Brown County commissioner Diana Biddle is distributing this map to emergency agencies to show where some of the closures and detours will take place.
