A former Brown County teen was sentenced to serve almost a year in jail after pleading guilty to slashing tires on Artist Drive last July.

On Feb. 28, Lavelle H. Albert, 19, Bloomington, was sentenced to 1,230 days in the Brown County jail, but 914 days will be suspended if he successfully completes probation. He pleaded guilty to 41 counts of criminal mischief after slashing tires on 27 vehicles in one night.

Albert was also sentenced to serve nearly two-and-a-half years on probation, do 40 hours of community service, complete a substance abuse evaluation and pay $35 a week in restitution to the victims to a total of $8,405.59. He has to stay off Artist Drive as a condition of his probation.

Albert had initially pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea in January.
