CAMP ROBERTS — A 23-year-old Bargersville man was seriously injured Sunday, March 5 after he crashed his motorcycle on State Road 135 South.

Alexander Smith was not wearing a helmet when his motorcycle left the road in the 4600 block of 135 South at around 3:45 p.m. He was found lying face-down in a field about 20 feet from the motorcycle.

He was riding with a group when his motorcycle exited a left curve that was also a hill crest, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner. One of the group members called 911 and reported Smith was bleeding from his nose.

Two witnesses in the riding group said that they and Smith had one beer each at a local inn before riding. But before Smith was taken from the scene in a medical helicopter, he told Deputy Chad Williams that he had had two Jack and Cokes before riding.

Smith was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. His motorcycle was towed.

Currently, no charges have been filed against Smith.
