Portrait artist Marie J. Thompson, 95, Carmel, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017.
Marie is survived by her five sons, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Herman and Rose Juergens; and husband, Wayne Thompson.
Marie opened her art studio in Nashville in 1970. After the death of her husband in 1972, Nashville became her home for 41 years. Her portrait paintings have included well-known TV and movie celebrities, 500 Festival and state fair queens, corporation executives, judges and champion horses. Marie served as association president of the Brown County Art Gallery from 1974 to 1975.
Services for Marie will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, March 10 at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St. in Indianapolis, with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
