Driver of flipped SUV mostly uninjured

HELMSBURG — An 18-year-old driver who flipped a vehicle on its side on Helmsburg Road on Feb. 20 escaped with only scratches, police said.

Dominic D. Wiest, 18, of Helmsburg Road, told police he looked down at the dashboard to adjust his headlights in the heavy morning fog and when he looked up, he was off the road.

The white Blazer hit a tree with the passenger side and landed on the driver’s side in the road, the police report said.

Wiest was checked out by emergency medical services for minor injuries to his hand but refused further treatment. He was wearing a seat belt, the report said.
