Dollar General to open Sunday

BEAN BLOSSOM — The Bean Blossom Dollar General store is scheduled to open on Sunday, Feb. 12.

With a parking lot full of cars and delivery trucks out front, the former McDonald’s Shopworth is suddenly showing life again, as workers prepare the new Dollar General for its soft opening on Sunday.

Shelving and coolers are going in and items are starting to appear on the shelves.

District Manager Jim Morin said the store will employ six to nine associates in addition to new store manager Lisa Duhamell when it opens Feb. 12.

Hours will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., he said.

The store will also have a grand opening Saturday, Feb. 25, Morin said. Plans for that event are still in the works.

Groceries will include staples such as bread, milk and eggs, as well as perishables such as bacon, sausage, cheese and lunch meat, Morin said. Frozen foods and cereals will also be stocked.

“We are anxious to become part of the Bean Blossom community, and we want to be everybody’s one-stop shop,” Morin said.
