The 282 Brown County Junior High students who voted in the Indiana Kids Election didn’t vote much differently than Brown County adults.

Sixty-two percent chose Republican Donald Trump for president, 28 percent chose Democrat Hillary Clinton and 10 percent chose Libertarian Gary Johnson. Brown County adult vote percentages were 62.6 percent, 31.4 percent and 1 percent, respectively, with the rest choosing write-ins.

For governor, 50 percent chose Republican Eric Holcomb, 42 percent chose Democrat John Gregg and 8 percent chose Libertarian Rex Bell. Adult percentages were 56.4 percent, 40.2 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively.

For Indiana senate, 63 percent chose Republican Todd Young, 27 percent chosen Democrat Evan Bayh and 10 percent chose Libertarian Lucy Brenton. Adult percentages were 57.7 percent, 36.3 percent and 5.7 percent, respectively, with the rest choosing write-ins.

Turnout among the kids, though, was much higher than Brown County adults: 89.5 percent of registered student voters versus 63.5 percent of registered adult voters.
