The U.S. Forest Service and volunteer firefighters in Jackson County are fighting a wildfire that spread into Hoosier National Forest property earlier today.

At 3:30 p.m., forest service firefighters notified Brown County dispatch that the fire was near Houston, at the Brown-Jackson county line.

Smoke may be visible in southern Brown County.
