The Brown County Redevelopment Commission voted Oct. 17 to pay CMS Development $9,500 to begin work on a website for the commission.

That fee is slightly more than 50 percent of the entire $18,500 quote that CMS proprietor Chuck Wills presented to the commission, dated Oct. 13.

The quote includes the design of the site as well as photography and some content creation.

In addition, the quote lists $1,250 to be charged annually for CMS to host the site, and provide backups and updates to the WordPress-based site and any plugins.

President Dave Redding said that the redevelopment commission lacks a way to draw attention to the county and its potential for prospective residents and employers.

Among other things to be featured on the site, the commission has discussed listing properties available for commercial development and maps showing availability of Internet, water and other utilities.

The goal is to get the website up and working by the end of the year.
