The Brown County Veterans of Foreign Wars post will be making some changes to the veterans’ monument that stands outside the courthouse.
The Brown County Commissioners approved adding three new plaques on a new slab of granite inside the current monument structure.
The area, now filled with gravel-like stones on the side nearest to the courthouse, will contain the names of local soldiers in the Cold War and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, said Don Birden, president of the VFW. He said they are the only ones not represented.
Birden said the project is funded. The plan is to dedicate it on Memorial Day during the annual service at that site, he said.
