BEAN BLOSSOM — A Martinsville couple sustained minor injuries after their vehicle was rear-ended on State Road 135 North near the Bean Blossom Animal Clinic Oct. 21.

William E. Geissman, 74, told Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell that he was in slow-moving traveling northbound on 135 North and a vehicle in front of him was turning into the Bean Blossom Animal Clinic parking lot.

Geissman and his wife reported they saw a vehicle approaching quickly behind them from the south after coming around a curve before striking their vehicle in the back, the report said.

The driver of the second vehicle, Nell C. Percival, 91, Nashville, told police she was on her way to Brownie’s Restaurant. She said she saw Geissman’s vehicle slowing down, but she could not stop.

When asked how fast she was driving, Percival hesitated before stating “pretty fast,” the report said.

Geissman was checked out by emergency medical staff for right shoulder pain, but he did not wish to be transported to the hospital. His wife told police she struck her head, but she also did not seek treatment.

Percival was not injured, but her vehicle was towed from the scene, the report said.

Everyone was wearing their seat belts.
